Show & Tell - December 6, 2014

This week we had no demo planned. Instead we got together after show & tell and made a group effort to complete the quilts we are giving to the Samaritan Inn children's shelter.  The women in this group have got to be the best ever.  I sprung this project on them only a few weeks ago, yet they all jumped in to help and delivered 11 finished quilts over last week and this week.  With only 5 to go, the group paired off 2 and sometimes 3 to a quilt to finish the rest.  I am so proud to be a member of Fabric Fun!

But first, show & tell:

Brenda Severa showed us 2 Christmas towels and a patchwork wall hanging, all machine embroidered.

The wall hanging was done with a pattern that connects each block.

Audrey Philipa is leaving us for the winter - heading back to her home on the Atlantic coast.  Before she left us she finished a few UFOs and brought them all in for this week's show & tell.

First, she showed her completed Christmas place mats.

Next we got to see her cone & fabric Christmas tree. Lovely red and gold color scheme.

Some large machine embroidered place mats were next.

She also completed a set of Christmas tree napkins.

Machine embroidery was also added to a plain apron she picked up.  Note: she also had to move the waste ties up to accommodate her height, since they originally tied at her hips instead of her waste. :-))

She also sewed 2 cute flannel blankets together to make another quilt for our donation drive.  This will be much appreciated by some little boy.

Audrey also brought us some cute reindeer peanut butter cookies to enjoy.

Audrey came wearing a cute holiday sweater.  I just had to take photos of this front and back.

Lu Karatzas was next.  She brought one of her EReader pillows that she showed us last year and a cute "exercise" block.

Lu also talked about the shirt she was wearing.  This was one of her favorites, but it got a bleach stain at one point.  Instead of discarding it, she embellished it over the stain with a musical G clef and added some additional music notes for accent.  What a great way to restore a loved piece of clothing.

Maureen Wilson showed the dress apron she made for her husband to wear while he helps clean up after holiday parties.

She then showed the felt memory ornaments she finished and a cute bag made from a Santa hat.

Maureen's last item this week was a fringed fleece football blanket she made.

Marty Rhyne showed a pile of fleece blanket and gave a short demo later of how to make the crocheted edging.

Then Marty showed her donation scrapy quilt top, completed with help from her sister Susan and Alice Meunier.

Suzanne Brown showed 2 caps she knitted, an ornament she made and some book covers she made this morning..

Kathy Jones showed a quilt top she sewed together for our donation effort.

Pat Pipa showed fabric cards she made and her scrappy quilt contribution.

B.J. Herter showed a cute sewing machine notions caddy she received as a gift.

Joy Stanton showed 2 Christmas table runners she made.

(I said we'd see more of this great pattern.)

Cheryl Minieri Showed the quilt she made for our donation drive.

Lois rose showed 2 pieces of machine embroidery she made for her family Christmas cards.

She also showed 2 quilts she made for donation. The first is a scrappy quilt made from bits of fabric donated to the club.

The second was made with a combination of leftover fabric and discounted Hot Wheels fabric.

Although she hasn't been able to join us for some time, Helen Lowrey is still thinking of us.  She sent us 2 doggie beds and 2 lovely fidget quilts.  We miss you Helen.  Hope you are able to join us again in 2015.
