Weekly Update - December 12, 2015
Hi Ladies: Here's the great news shared by Lois Rose.
---------------
I wanted to let everyone know that, as a result of their efforts, I made the following deliveries on Wednesday:
18 infant/toddler quilts and toys to Sheperds Lighthouse, Bellview
8 twin quilts to the Ocala Sexual Abuse and Domestic Violence Shelter
8 dog beds, 4 cat hammocks, and 3 bags of newspapers to the Marion County Animal Shelter
http://www.marioncountyfl.org/ departments-agencies/ departments-a-n/animal- services/animal-center-and- services
That is in addition to the 15 infant/toddler quilts and toys I delivered to Hands of Mercy Everywhere (H.O.M.E.) last week.
If case anyone is interested in checking out these charities, I have included links to their web pages.
Sorry I'm going to miss the fun Saturday. See you next week.

Hi Ladies: Lunch & Learn Christmas Luncheon was a festive affair
last Saturday - all red, green, chocolate, and yummy - two tables
full!!! We ate, we played games, we shared the gift game of right, left
and across and well, the 3 hours went way way too fast again, just like
this year!!!
Show & Tell:
Joan Thomas - embellished table runner - good story, she made it a while back, it was a good project, she liked it, but wasn't totally happy - then she saw BJ's embellished sweatshirt with leaves galore... and Joan went to the dollar store, got some, and embellished the table runner that made it now a "wow" project.
MaryAnn Maejet Emrick - pillowcases - lots
Joan Galanther - guess? this is a project we are going to do...
I've threaten you before... but ladies, after seeing this beautiful
artwork by Joan, we've gotta do some playing just like this!!! Joan
employed several embellishing and "fabric construction" layering
techniques - and with her terrific artistic base - made her very own
masterpiece. check it out on the blog picture but it won't do "it
justice". No I won't stray from my UFO-a-week goal for 2016 by creating
a new project - this will be fun to incorporate into a UFO week.
Nancy Cartlidge - shared the charity quilt tops she and JoAnn Colin
made, a couple were tops finished by adding backings, and a couple were
made starting with some of the donated fabric fleece, and Nancy even
made pillowcases to match one of the quilts. Ladies, well done!
Lu Karatzas - shared the picture ornaments she made for family members
this year finished with her newly learned crochet framing. And Lu
shared the 4 sets of PJ's made for grandchildren - really nicely made
using our club's "tweens pj bottom pattern" and embellishing the tee
shirts - it does make a very nice PJ set.
I made sets for my grandsons for Christmas as well.

Speaking of PJ's - our club made and I plan to drop off this week at
SeaBreeze - 26 PJ sets and collected 2 dozen books to donate. And
members Kathy Franklin and Susie Pendry made an additional 9 PJ sets of
13/14 and 15/16 boys to donate. Next year, I think we'll plan this a
little earlier in the fall but for sure - it was fun - and by using an
extra "special sewing" day to create the PJ bottoms - it really went
fast and fun.
Carol Riggs shared a "Tell" with us - about a new bakery -
"Cupcakes for Autism" - 13769 N. US Hwy 441 (north of Lowes and Bealls) -
we had a delicious taste of their very yummy and fancy Red Velvet
Cake! They do Weddings, birthdays, gluten-free, Cuptails (signature
line of alcoholic cupcakes), cookies, cheesecakes, ice cream, and more
more more. They have holiday gift bags and gift certificates. Open M-F
8:30 - 6, Sat. 8:30 - 5 for breakfast and lunch - NonProfit needs donations and volunteers. tel: 352-321-6185 Here is a link to the website:
Ladies, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your thoughtful (and
green) gift for Christmas - and I knew that shifty, one-handed, one
liner gal pal, Carol Riggs was up to "no good" with all the lists and
questions lately. I'm going to watch you a little more closely lady
from now on!
